Beyond Salem: Maryland has a history of witch trials
When you think of witch trials, Salem, Massachusetts, is probably what comes to mind. But Maryland has its own haunting history. Maryland had a history of witch trials, with 12 cases, five capital cases, and the rest were civil trials. The history of these trials was explored through Annapolis Ghost Tours and Crawls through the streets of Annapolis. Tour guide Melissa Huston believes these stories are rooted in her family and are authentic. In 1685, Rebecca Fowler was the only person executed in Maryland. Despite these past accusations, the consequences of these witch trials can last a lifetime.
