NORTH BETHESDA, MD — A North Bethesda man has been sentenced to serve more than eight years in prison after prosecutors said he "relentlessly" cyberstalked multiple victims for over a year.

Joseph Bourabah, 27, was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison after he participated in a cyberstalking campaign from September 2021 until February 2023 that also targeted victims' families, tenants, and former employers, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced Monday. According to officials, the harassment involved hundreds of incidents, including fake Craigslist ads, Facebook postings, events on Eventbrite, and the hiring of unwanted services.

Beginning in September 2021, Bourabah created a fake Facebook account to share pornographic content of a victim and spread false accusations about them, prosecutors said. In the following months, Bourabah also sent pornographic videos of the victim to the victim’s family members and friends and posted videos of the victim on a pornographic website. Bourabah also targeted the victim’s mother, prosecutors said. On multiple occasions, Bourabah posted pornographic videos on the mother’s social media feeds. He also created a Craigslist post advertising the mother's pet ducks and trampoline for free, resulting in both being taken from her home.

According to court documents, Bourabah targeted another victim by creating a fake ad on Craigslist to advertise the victim’s car as available for free. He also attempted to have the car towed. In January 2023, Bourabah advertised a "pedo kink party" at the victim's home using a picture of the victim and the victim’s home address, prosecutors said.

In an email sent to the victim, Bourabah said, “I’m never going to stop. I’ll be trolling your children’s babysitter 10 years from now.” Bourabah also harassed the second victim’s mother through ads on Craigslist that included a Halloween costume party, a New Year's Eve party and an open house event. According to court documents, Bourabah ordered unsolicited services to her home, including tree cutting, carpet cleaning, junk removal, and towing.
