Restaurants and rising Maryland chefs have been nominated for James Beard Foundation awards this week. Here are the venues up for honors. Three restaurants in Maryland, three of which are nominated for the 2024 Restaurant and Chef Awards, have been identified by the James Beard Foundation. Other notable nominees include Hollis Wells Silverman, Eastern Point Collective, and Tail Up Goat in Washington, D.C. The awards recognise exceptional talent in the culinary and food media industries and are often referred as the "Oscars of culinary arts." The winners will be announced in a ceremony at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

MARYLAND — The culinary scene in Maryland is represented by three restaurants in the 2024 Restaurant and Chef Awards nominees announced Wednesday by the James Beard Foundation. Nearby Washington, D.C.'s food scene is also well recognized.

The James Beard Awards, first presented in 1991, recognize exceptional talent in the culinary and food media industries and are often regarded as the “Oscars of culinary arts.” They recognize a range of experiences, from fine-dining restaurants to casual gems, in 22 categories.

Winners will be announced June 10 in a ceremony at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
