The Baltimore Orioles travelled west to San Francisco, leaving the Splash Zone in Baltimore. With the Homer Hose in tow, the team had McCovey Cove to gun for. The winning run in Baltimore’s 3-2 win over the Giants came up just a bit short of a splash down in the Cove on Friday night.

Gunnar Henderson‘s (1 for 4, 1 run, 1 RBI) seventh inning homerun travelled 410 feet to right, coming up short of McCovey Cove.

It was another quality start by Dean Kremer (6-2), his fifth of the season, that gave the Orioles the chance to prevail. Allowing 2 runs on 5 hits (1 HR) with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts in 6.0 innings earned Kremer the win. The homerun he allowed was the Giants 100th to reach McCovey Cove and it came off the bat of Baltimore native Lamonte Wade, Jr to lead-off the game.

The bullpen was solid in relief of Kremer. Danny Coulombe (1.0 IP, 3 K), Yennier Cano (1.0 IP, 1 BB) and Felix Bautista (1.0 IP, 1 H, 3 K) did their job in the late innings with Bautista earning his 15th save of 2023.

The second inning started with an Austin Hays (1 for 4, 1 run) double. A walk by Aaron Hicks (0 for 2, 1 run, 1 BB) followed by singles by Ryan O’Hearn (1 for 3, 1 RBI) and Jorge Mateo (1 for 2, 1 RBI) allowed the Orioles to score two runs and take the lead, a lead they would relinquish in the third inning.
