Baltimore police are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday night in the Druid Heights neighborhood.

Officers said they were dispatched to the 1600 block of West North Avenue around 8:09 p.m. to investigate a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, police said they located 42-year-old Heidi Rose. She was transported to the University of Maryland Shock where medical personnel pronounced her dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a pickup truck struck Rose as she was crossing West North Avenue. He fled the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck later struck a raised median and jersey wall. He was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.
