Scott and the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) are expanding the Sewage Onsite Support (SOS) Cleanup Program to cover additional basement sewage backups. The expanded program provides eligible residents with professional cleanup and disinfection services for qualifying sewage backups regardless of weather conditions. Previously, the program covered only qualifying basement sewage backup events associated with wet-weather events. The expansion applies to qualifying backups that occur during dry weather when the blockage is determined to be on the City-owned side of the sewer lateral. The program connects eligible Baltimore City residents with third-party contractors who provide professional cleaning and disinfections following qualifying sewage backup backups. DPW will continue to operate its Expedited Reimbursement Program for Sewage Backups and will provide eligible residents up to $5,000 per household for qualifying treatment.
